NICHIJO ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is a daily journaling app that helps you write in the language you are learning and receive AI-assisted feedback. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The App is operated by Hironori Murakami, together with Anju Minami. By using NICHIJO, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you have any questions, contact us at nichijo.support@gmail.com.
1Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to provide and improve the App.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you use Sign in with Apple, the name you choose to share. We may generate a display name for your profile.
Your journal content. NICHIJO stores the journal entries you write, along with related information such as the language and level you selected, and any vocabulary or flashcards generated from your entries. This is the core data the App is built to keep for you.
AI feedback data. To provide corrections, translations, and suggestions, the text you write is sent to third-party AI service providers for processing. We do not use your journal content to train third-party AI models.
Usage and diagnostic data. We collect information about how the App performs, including crash reports, performance data, and basic usage activity, to find and fix problems and improve the experience.
Identifiers. We may collect device identifiers and, where applicable, an advertising identifier, used for analytics, authentication, and advertising as described below.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, health data, or financial information.
2How We Use Your Information
- Provide the core journaling and AI-feedback features of the App;
- Create and maintain your account;
- Generate vocabulary, flashcards, and learning content from your entries;
- Send you notifications you have enabled, such as daily reminders;
- Display advertising in the free version of the App;
- Monitor performance, fix bugs, and improve the App;
- Respond to your support requests;
- Comply with legal obligations.
3Advertising
The free version of NICHIJO may display advertising provided by Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may use device and advertising identifiers to deliver and measure ads. On iOS, we ask for your permission before tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency, and you can change this choice at any time in your device settings. 4Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the App:
- Backend, authentication, and storage, to host your account and journal data securely;
- Third-party AI service providers, to generate language feedback;
- Google AdMob, to display advertising in the free version;
- Apple, for Sign in with Apple and in-app purchases.
These providers process data only as needed to perform their services for us.
5Subscriptions and Purchases
NICHIJO offers optional paid subscriptions through Apple's in-app purchase system. Payment is handled entirely by Apple, and we do not receive or store your payment card details.
6Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from within the App or by contacting us at nichijo.support@gmail.com. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and journal content, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.
7Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8International Users
NICHIJO is available worldwide, and your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you live, including the United States and Japan. By using the App, you consent to this transfer and processing.
9Children's Privacy
NICHIJO is rated 4+ but is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
10Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at nichijo.support@gmail.com.
11Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App.
